Information We Collect

Data You Provide:

• Map Poster Data: Map configurations, city and country names, theme selections, frame styles, and other poster customizations you create within the app
• Collections: Custom collections you create to organize your map posters
• Preferences: App settings, app icon preference, gallery layout preference, and other user preferences

Automatically Collected Data:

• Location Data: When you create a new poster, the app may request your current location to pre-fill city and country information. This is only used locally and is never sent to our servers
• Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the CartoCraft app functionality
• Generate map poster previews and exports based on your configurations
• Pre-fill location information when creating new posters (with your permission)
• Display your posters in home screen widgets
• Improve and optimize the app experience
• Process your subscription purchases through Apple's App Store
• Provide customer support when requested

Location Data

Purpose: CartoCraft requests location access solely to determine your current city and country when creating a new map poster. This provides a convenient starting point for your design.

Usage: Location data is processed on-device using reverse geocoding and is never transmitted to our servers or any third parties beyond what is necessary for the geocoding service.

Control: Location access is entirely optional. You can deny the permission and manually enter city and country names. You can also revoke location access at any time in your device's Settings.

Data Storage & Security

Local Storage: Your map poster data is stored on your device using Apple's secure SwiftData framework.

Widget Data: Poster snapshots used for home screen widgets are stored in a shared App Group container on your device.

No Server Storage: We do not operate servers that store your personal map data. Your posters, collections, and preferences remain entirely on your device.

Third-Party Services

CartoCraft uses the following third-party services:

• Apple App Store: For processing subscription purchases and managing your account
• RevenueCat: For subscription management and purchase validation. RevenueCat may collect anonymous device identifiers for this purpose
• OpenStreetMap / Nominatim: For reverse geocoding (converting coordinates to city/country names). Only coordinate data is sent; no personal information is transmitted

These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View all data stored within the app at any time
• Export: Export your map posters as high-resolution images
• Delete: Delete any or all of your map posters and collections from the app
• Control Location: Grant or revoke location access at any time
• Reset Data: Use the "Reset All Maps" option in Settings to delete all data

Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times.

Children's Privacy

CartoCraft is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
