Terms of Use

Eclipse Notch

Last updated: August 20, 2026

Agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Mohammad Alhasson ("we", "us"), the developer of Eclipse Notch (the "App"). By downloading or using the App you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

This agreement is between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its contents.

What Eclipse Notch Is

Eclipse Notch turns the notch on your Mac into a Dynamic Island: what's playing, a file tray, a dock, timers, weather, today's calendar, world clocks, notes, clipboard history, a camera mirror, Finder shortcuts, Pi-hole controls, and battery levels for your Mac and the devices connected to it. It shows you things your Mac already knows and gives you somewhere to put them.

Eclipse Notch is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple, Spotify, the Pi-hole project, Open-Meteo, or any device manufacturer whose hardware it reports on. Those names are used only to describe what the App can read from, control, or link to.

The Two Builds

Eclipse Notch is available as a direct download from us and as a Mac App Store version. The App Store version is sandboxed, and a sandboxed app cannot drive the Accessibility API against other applications or read Bluetooth peripherals the way the direct build does. Unread Dock badges, notification mirroring, and the Devices tab therefore do not exist in that version, and the settings that would offer them are hidden rather than shown as switches that do nothing. Buy whichever suits you, but buy knowing which one you are buying.

Your Content

Your notes, snippets, and files are yours. We claim no ownership over anything you write in the App, copy through it, or drop on its tray, and none of it is transmitted to us.

You are responsible for your own backups. Clipboard history is held in memory and is deliberately not persisted — quitting the App discards it. See the Privacy Policy for where everything else is kept.

License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control. Copies obtained from the Mac App Store are additionally subject to the App Store's Usage Rules, including Family Sharing where applicable. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

Acceptable Use

Do not use the App to break the law, or to interfere with the App, the services it connects to, or anyone else's use of them. Use the App only on a Mac you own or administer, and use its Pi-hole controls only on a Pi-hole you are entitled to administer — pausing network-wide ad blocking affects everybody on that network, not only you.

Eclipse Notch Pro, Purchases, and Renewals

Eclipse Notch offers a paid unlock, sold as a monthly or yearly subscription — both opening with a free trial where offered — or as a one-time lifetime unlock. All of them grant the same thing. [[FREE VS PRO FEATURE SPLIT — CONFIRM BEFORE PUBLISHING]]

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Free trial, where offered, converts to a paid subscription automatically when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Any unused portion of a trial is forfeited if you buy a subscription before it expires. Eligibility for a trial is decided by Apple, per Apple Account and subscription group, not by us.
  • The lifetime unlock is a one-time purchase. It does not renew, and it is not a promise that the App will be updated forever — see Support and Updates below.
  • Prices are shown in your local currency in the App and on the App Store before you buy, and may differ by storefront. We may change prices for future purchases and renewal periods, with notice where required by law.
  • Managing and cancelling: manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store's terms, not by us. Requests go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Restoring: a purchase can be restored on any Mac signed in to the same Apple Account, from the App's purchase screen.

If a subscription lapses, nothing you have made is deleted. Your notes, pinned folders, world clocks, and settings stay where they are and stay readable; what stops is access to the paid features.

Third-Party Services

Some features rely on services and software outside our control, each governed by its own terms:

  • Open-Meteo — the default weather source; no account or key.
  • Apple Weather (WeatherKit) — the alternative weather source, with attribution shown in the App.
  • Apple — the App Store, in-app purchases, Calendar, and the system services the island reads.
  • RevenueCat — purchase validation and entitlement management.
  • Music, Spotify, and other players — controlled through macOS automation; the App plays nothing itself and provides no media.
  • Pi-hole — your own installation, on your own network, reached with credentials you provide.

These services may change, rate-limit, or shut down at any time, which may make the features that depend on them unavailable. What data flows to each of them is described in our Privacy Policy.

Support and Updates

We are solely responsible for any maintenance and support for the App; Apple has no obligation to provide either. Support is available by email at [email protected]. We may add, change, or remove features in future versions, and we may stop updating the App at any time. Because Eclipse Notch depends on system behaviour that Apple controls, a future version of macOS may change or break a feature; continued availability of any particular feature is not guaranteed.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Nothing the island shows should be relied on as authoritative. Weather comes from a third-party service and is a forecast; battery levels — your Mac's and your devices' — are reported by hardware and by macOS and can be stale or wrong; calendar alerts, timers, and reminders are conveniences shown alongside the system's own and are not a substitute for them. Do not rely on Eclipse Notch for anything you cannot afford to miss.

If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App if applicable. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, including your notes, clipboard history, or settings, or for a missed meeting, alarm, or alert. Keep your own backups of anything you care about. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the App and its in-app purchases in the twelve months before the claim. This does not limit liability for death, personal injury, intent, or gross negligence where applicable law forbids such a limit.

Data and Privacy

We do not collect your personal data. What the App stores and what it sends where is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

Legal Compliance

You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You agree to comply with all applicable third-party terms when using the App.

Apple as Third-Party Beneficiary

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, or consumer protection claims, and is not responsible for investigating or resolving third-party intellectual property claims relating to the App.

Termination

These Terms apply until terminated. They end if you stop using and delete the App, or if you breach them. Sections on disclaimers, liability, and governing law survive termination.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date, and continuing to use the App after that means you accept them.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [[JURISDICTION — REPLACE BEFORE PUBLISHING]], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and nothing here deprives you of the right to bring proceedings there.
